New Humanity contributed to the development of the Ocean Decade Manual for Non-Governmental Organizations<\/em>, published by UNESCO in December 2024. The manual aims to support and encourage civil society organizations to engage in the UN Ocean Decade<\/em>\u2014a global initiative to advance ocean science and sustainable development. New Humanity\u2019s contribution was made through the collaboration of Thalassia Giaccone<\/strong>, a technologist at the Sicily Marine Centre<\/strong> (Messina, Italy) <\/span>and a long-time collaborator of the organization.<\/p>\n

The manual provides practical guidelines to help NGOs engage meaningfully in the Ocean Decade, identify partnership opportunities, and develop impactful projects. It also includes case studies that highlight the essential role NGOs play in communicating scientific knowledge and fostering inclusive, actionable solutions from the local to the global level, leaving no one behind<\/span>. This publication is the result of cooperation between the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Office<\/em> and UNESCO\u2019s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC)<\/em>. It was officially launched on December 18, 2024, during the International Conference of NGOs at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.<\/p>\n

New Humanity’s involvement will also be highlighted at the OCEANS 2025 Brest Conference<\/em>, taking place from 16 to 19 June 2025 in France. A poster presenting the manual has been accepted for display during the event and will feature the logos of all participating organizations, including New Humanity.<\/p>\n
