The start journey begins<\/h2>\n<p><strong>1986, June<\/strong>&#8211; The &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/about-us\/presentazione\/#ibew.html\"><strong>International Bureau of Economy and Work<\/strong><\/a>&#8221; is founded.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1987 <\/strong>&#8211; The &#8220;International Bureau of Economy and Work&#8221; obtains <strong><a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=42&amp;Itemid=165\">Special Consultative Status (Italian)<\/a> with<\/strong> the United Nation Social and Economic Council (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/ecosoc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ECOSOC<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>1987 <\/strong>&#8211; First participation of the &#8220;International Bureau of Economy and Work&#8221; in a UN Conference &#8211; specifically, the<strong> International Conference about on <\/strong><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"short_text\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\"><strong>Disarmament<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1988 <\/strong>&#8211; The &#8220;International Bureau of Economy and Work&#8221;, in its second appearance at the International Conference about the Disarmament, presented an<strong> Appeal to the UN General Secretary<\/strong> <strong>for &#8220;a United World&#8221;.<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>November 1995 <\/strong>&#8211; The &#8220;International Bureau of Economy and Work&#8221;<strong> assumes its current name of &#8220;New Humanity&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-1353\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/images_new_humanity_lubich_unesco_1996.jpg\" alt=\"Chiara Lubich (right) receives UNESCO Peace Prize\" width=\"200\" height=\"138\" style=\"margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: left;\" \/><\/strong><strong>1996 <\/strong>&#8211; Paris. UNESCO awarded its <strong>Prize for Peace<\/strong> for 1996 to<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/chiara-lubich\/chi-e-chiara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chiara Lubich<\/a><\/strong>, New Humanity&#8217;s Founder and President of the focolare Movement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>March 1998 <\/strong>&#8211; Hyde Park, New York. New Humanity is one of the promoters of a <a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=40&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>&#8220;Proposition for a World Consortium for Raw Materials&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> between oil exporting and importing Countries, <strong>in order to insulate the price of oil from market<\/strong><strong>fluctuations<\/strong> with the price being agreed together by these Countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 1999 <\/strong>&#8211; Araceli, Brazil. New Humanity launched a proposal &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=50&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>Supporting a new economy of communion (Italian)<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; to increase economic action in communion and thereby &#8220;tackle the urgent challenges facing mankind in the next millennium&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p> <!--nextpage--> <\/p>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-1091\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_eventi_altre_sedi_foto_eoc-genoa.jpg\" alt=\"Economia di Comunione e libert\u00e0 alle Nazioni Unite\" style=\"margin: 5px 0px 5px 5px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: right;\" width=\"250\" height=\"170\" \/>2000-2010. Dawning of the third millennium<\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong>August 2000 &#8211;<\/strong> New Humanity <strong>staged a workshop entitled the \u201c<\/strong><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.edc-online.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Economy of Communion<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> <strong>in Freedom\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong>at the United Nations to coincide with the annual conference of NGO\u2019s associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>2001\/ 2002 <\/strong>&#8211;<strong> New Humanity participated in the Financing for Development Preparation Committee<\/strong> meetings with economic experts from various countries, and published a statement in support of the conference in favor of a fund to help tackle poverty among the young in developing countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June 2001 <\/strong>&#8211;<strong> New Humanity organized a conference on the economy in Genoa, Italy in anticipation of the G8 summit<\/strong>; over 1,000 people attended.<br \/>At the close, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/giovaniperunmondounito.blogspot.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Youth for a United World<\/a><\/strong> presented the&nbsp;<strong>Genoa Declaration (Italian)<\/strong>. Its results were used as a basis for New Humanity\u2019s participation in an <strong>ECOSOC conference in Copenhagen<\/strong>. (see below)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-1094\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_Parigi_Conferenza_su_Economia_di_Comunione_e_liberta.jpg\" alt=\"Conferenza su Economia di Comunione e libert\u00e0\" style=\"margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: left;\" width=\"250\" height=\"192\" \/><strong>December 2001 <\/strong>&#8211; A <strong>conference on economics and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edc-online.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Economy of Communion<\/a> and Freedom<\/strong> was held at the UNESCO facilities in Paris as part of the MOST program with 500 participants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>December 2001 <\/strong>&#8211; New Humanity staged a <strong>workshop<\/strong> on international economics to tie <strong>in with the 53rd Annual United Nations DPI\/NGO Conference Global Solidarity<\/strong>, its title: The Way to Peace and International Cooperation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>April 2002 &#8211; Participation in the Second World Assembly on Aging in Madrid.<\/strong> During the week-long event, NH sponsored 3 workshops, made an oral presentation to the assembly, and participated in discussions and comments on the final report.<br \/><strong>Participation in the NGO Commission on Aging, and the NGO Commission on the Family.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-1097\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_Geneve_Sessione_Speciale_dellAssemblea_Generale_sui_Bambini.jpg\" alt=\"Sessione Speciale dellAssemblea Generale sui Bambini\" style=\"margin: 5px 0px 5px 5px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: right;\" width=\"250\" height=\"176\" \/><strong>May 2002 <\/strong>&#8211; Participation in the <strong>Special Session of the General Assembly on Children<\/strong>, and N.H. youth held a <strong>side event<\/strong> together with the youth of several other NGOs.<br \/>Presentations by youth members have taken place at the meetings of the Commission on Human Rights in Geneva.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June 2002 <\/strong>&#8211; Copenhagen, Denmark. A New Humanity representative participated in the <strong>United Nations Expert Group Meeting,National and International Cooperation for Social Development<\/strong>, and collaborated in drafting the report prepared by this group of experts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>October 2004<\/strong>&#8211; Geneva. On the occasion of the &#8220;International Day for the Fight against Poverty&#8221;, in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, N. H. organised a <strong>seminar about \u201cPoverty and development from the perspective of reciprocity<\/strong>: <span class=\"doclink\"><strong>The proposal of the Economy of Communion<\/strong><\/span>. Mr Alberto Ferrucci, President of New Humanity and entrepreneur, presented also&nbsp;<a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=80&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>the Economy of Communion Experience<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-1100\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_new_humanity_Status_Consultivo_Generale_a_New_Humanity.jpg\" alt=\"Status Consultivo Generale a New Humanity\" style=\"margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: left;\" width=\"250\" height=\"170\" \/><strong>February 2005 <\/strong>&#8211;<strong>&nbsp;&#8220;General Consultative Status&#8221; is conferred upon New Humanity by the United Nations Organisation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>February 2005 <\/strong>&#8211; Geneva. New Humanity presents two written statements to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, about Human Rights:&nbsp;<a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=64&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>Promotion and protection of Human Rights<\/strong><\/a> and&nbsp;<a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=62&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>The Right to Development and the Principle of Fraternity<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>March 2005 <\/strong>&#8211; At the <strong>Economic and Social Council NGO Forum on \u201cMillennium Development Goals\u201d<\/strong> New Humanity presented a talk on mutual interdependence, brotherhood, and mutual reciprocity as a guest speaker at the forum.<span class=\"doclink\"> <\/span><a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=60&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>The vision of N. H. at the ECOSOC NGO Forum about Millennium Development Goals<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>March 2005 <\/strong>&#8211; At the <strong>Preparatory Meeting on Sustainable Development<\/strong>, New Humanity made a presentation at a side event organized together with the Holy See mission to the United Nations, the Financing for Development Office, and two Non-Governmental Organizations, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avsi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>AVSI<\/strong> <\/a>and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/paxromanausa.org\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pax Romana<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-1103\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_Geneve_61_sessione_della_Commissione_per_i_Diritti_Umani.JPG\" alt=\"61 sessione della Commissione per i Diritti Umani\" style=\"margin: 5px 0px 5px 5px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: right;\" width=\"250\" height=\"145\" \/><strong>March\/ April 2005 <\/strong>&#8211; Geneva. On the occasion of the<strong> 61st United Nations &nbsp;Commission on Human Rights, N.H. presented two written declarations<\/strong> entitled: &#8220;the Right to Develop and the Fraternity Principle\u201c and &#8220;Terrorism and Human Rights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 2005 <\/strong>&#8211; Geneva. Celebrating the UN &#8220;<strong>International Year for Sport and Physical Education<\/strong>&#8220;, New Humanity organized at the &#8220;Palais des Nations&#8221; <strong>a seminar entitled: <a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=88&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\">Sport: a universal instrument for development and peace building<\/a><\/strong>. The event was prepared in collaboration with its associate \u201c<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sportmeet.org\/index.php?&amp;l=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sportmeet<\/a><\/strong>\u201d and with the participation of university professors and UN and international NGO personalities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 2005 <\/strong>&#8211; New York. New Humanity sponsored a <strong>round table<\/strong> in Hyde Park, New York, open to the public, on <strong>Disarmament and International Security<\/strong> with the participation among others of the United Nations Under-Secretary General for Disarmament Affairs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-1106\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_eventi_altre_sedi_Run4Unity_sport_sviluppo_e_pace.jpg\" alt=\"Run4Unity sport sviluppo e pace\" style=\"margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: left;\" width=\"250\" height=\"160\" \/><strong>July 2005<\/strong> \u2013 Geneva. <strong>During the activities of the Subcommittee of Human Rights Promotion and Protection<\/strong>, New Humanity presented the document:&nbsp;<a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=85&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>The Economy of Communion Project and the fight against poverty<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cb <strong>October 2005 <\/strong>&#8211;<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.run4unity.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Run4Unity<\/a>, Sports Development and Peace<\/strong>. The Youth for Unity Movement held Run4Unity a relay run through all the time zones of the world. The United Nations Office for Sports Development and Peace endorsed the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>November 2005 <\/strong>&#8211; N.H. participated in the <strong>&#8220;World Summit on the Information Society&#8221; (WSIS)<\/strong> in Tunis <strong>with a stand<\/strong> and presenting an internet and satellite system to enable medical consultations to be performed between Europe and the most remote and disadvantaged African regions. N.H. collaborates to the translation of the&nbsp;<a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=86&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>Final Documents of WSIS<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-1109\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_eventi_altre_sedi_Crisis_de_los_Refugiados.jpg\" alt=\"2006 World Day of Cultural Difference and Dialogue for development\" width=\"250\" height=\"189\" style=\"margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: right;\" \/><strong>January 2006<\/strong> \u2013 Geneva. N.H. participated in discussions at the 44th Session of the Commission for &nbsp;Social Development &nbsp;with a speech entitled:&nbsp;<a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=58&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>\u201cPoverty Eradication \u2013 Learning from the Economy of Communion Project.\u201d<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>May 2006<\/strong> \u2013 Geneva. To mark the &#8220;<strong>World Day for Cultural Diversity and &nbsp;Dialogue for Development&#8221; a seminar<\/strong> was organised by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in collaboration with New Humanity. N.H. participated in the \u201c<strong>High Level Meeting on HIV\/AIDS<\/strong>\u201d with a presentation to the Congress Secretary of <strong>two contributions:<br \/><\/strong><strong>&#8211; Fraternity<\/strong>: a real incentive to care for HIV\/ AIDS patients.<br \/><strong>&#8211; AIDS<\/strong>, cervical cancer prevention and interdependence in healthcare.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-1112\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_New_York_High_Level_of_the_Economic_and_Social_Council.jpg\" alt=\"High Level of the Economic and Social Council\" style=\"margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: left;\" width=\"250\" height=\"160\" \/><strong>July 2006 <\/strong>&#8211;&nbsp;New York. During the \u201d<strong>High Level Meeting of the Economic and Social Council<\/strong>\u201d, N.H. presented to ECOSOC the document<strong> <a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=79&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\">Eradication of poverty, hunger and misery: Economy of communion experience<\/a> <\/strong>about the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.edc-online.org\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Economy of Communion<\/a><\/strong> project&#8217;s achievements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>August 2006 <\/strong>&#8211;&nbsp;New York. New Humanity participated in the works of the <strong>58th session of the \u201cSub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights\u201d <\/strong>presenting a written statement and an oral intervention about<strong>: <a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=81&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\">International solidarity and the principle of fraternity<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>February 2007 <\/strong>&#8211; Geneva. During the 4th Session of the Human Rights Council, N. H. presented a document entitled<strong> <a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=60&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\">\u201cThe Right to Development and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)\u201d<\/a><\/strong> and a document on Human Rights and International Solidarity entitled<strong> <a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=82&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"> Human rights, international solidarity and the principle of fraternity<\/a>.<br \/><\/strong>A third document (<strong><a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=73&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\">Statement on Family for the UN Commission for Social Development<\/a><\/strong>) was prepared in collaboration with New Humanity&#8217;s Associates Organization &#8220;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.famiglienuove.org\/it\/afn4.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Famiglie Nuove<\/a><\/strong>&#8221; (&#8220;New families&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-1115\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_Parigi_Conference_about_dialogue_among_culture_and_peace.jpg\" alt=\"Conference about dialogue among culture and peace\" style=\"margin: 5px 0px 5px 5px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: right;\" width=\"250\" height=\"160\" \/><strong>February 2007 <\/strong>&#8211; Paris. To coincide with the work of the <strong>UN Human Rights Council on Intercultural and Inter-religious Dialogue<\/strong>, N.H an the international NGO <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oidel.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">OIDEL <\/a> <\/strong>organized the symposium &#8220;Intercultural and Inter-religious Dialogue: What are the proposals?&#8221;. In attendance were several representatives of state, and others from NGOs, as well as experts from academia and cultural associations. Particularly appreciated were the 3 contributions recounting experiences in Algeria, Lebanon and Italy with their testimonials of positive co-operation between Christians and Muslims in a climate of mutual esteem.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-1130\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_New_York_UN_High_level_meeting_about_AIDS.jpg\" alt=\"UN High level meeting about AIDS\" style=\"margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: left;\" width=\"250\" height=\"166\" \/><strong>May 2008 <\/strong>&#8211; UNESCO&#8217;s General Director announced that <strong>New Humanity has been included amongst those NGOs in operational relations with UNESCO<\/strong>. In collaboration with the international NGOs AVSI and Matercare and the Holy See Representation in New York, New Humanity organised a symposium <strong>on the occasion of the UN High Level Meeting on AIDS<\/strong>. The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mdc-net.org\/en\/projects\/fontem.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Humanity project in Cameroon<\/a><\/strong> regarding the prevention of mother-to-child AIDS transmission was presented together with AVSI and Matercare&#8217;s reports.<\/p>\n<p><strong>August 2008 <\/strong>&#8211; Geneva. During the course of the <strong>9th Session of the Human Rights Council<\/strong>, N.H. presented a written document and a made a presentation on Human Rights and International Solidarity entitled:&nbsp;<a href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=57&amp;Itemid=165\" class=\"doclink\"><strong>The principle of fraternity as the basis of \u201cthird-generation rights\u201d. A practical example of intern<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2008<\/strong>&#8211; N.H. participated in the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.intgovforum.org\/cms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Internet Governance Forum<\/a><\/strong> (IGF) in India.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-1133\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/images_projects_ICT_Activities_with_Act_now_Alliance.jpg\" alt=\"ICT Activities with Act now Alliance\" style=\"margin: 5px 0px 5px 5px; border: 3px inset #ffa500; float: right;\" width=\"250\" height=\"186\" \/>Since 2006 New Humanity has been a member of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.actnowalliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Act Now Alliance<\/a><\/strong>, an association for coordination between NGOs and Humanitarian Organizations whose objective it is to increase the common use of communication instruments. With financing from ESA (European Space Agency) and in collaboration with three NGOs (St. Egidio Community, LATS and AMU- a development NGO, and associate of New Humanity), <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.actnowalliance.org\/it\/act-now_aerc.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a satellite dish installation program<\/a><\/strong> has been completed in Cameroon in order to support two hospitals and a number of schools.<br \/><strong>Another project is now under way in the city of Man (Ivory Coast)<\/strong>. This project is promoted by a group of firms and NGOs (amongst which <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amu-it.eu\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AMU<\/a><\/strong>) and coordinated by the Dutch Center of Telecommunications Research TNO. The opening event of this edition was linked to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/en\/projects\/sharing-with-africa\/\">Sharing with Africa Project<\/a>, promoted by Y4UW on the&nbsp; African continent and it was the occasion for the launching of the first edition of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unitedworldproject.org\/it\/dossier-uwp-it.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Atlas of universal fraternity<\/a>. There was also New Humanity among the 24 ngos which were promoting the event.
