{"id":2724,"date":"2016-10-18T20:33:38","date_gmt":"2016-10-18T18:33:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/events\/new-york\/ny-good-practices-of-new-humanity-about-the-indigenous-women-as-protagonists-of-their-development\/"},"modified":"2019-12-27T17:56:29","modified_gmt":"2019-12-27T16:56:29","slug":"ny-good-practices-of-new-humanity-about-the-indigenous-women-as-protagonists-of-their-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/en\/news\/ny-good-practices-of-new-humanity-about-the-indigenous-women-as-protagonists-of-their-development\/","title":{"rendered":"NY: Good Practices of New Humanity about the Indigenous Women as Protagonists of their Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>61st Session of the Commission of the Status of Women<\/h1>\n<h2>16 October 2016, New York<\/h2>\n<p>New Humanity contributed to the latest session ot the UN Commission of the Status of Women.<br \/>It collected into a writte statement <strong>various experiences from indigenous women and how they promoted the economic development of their communities<\/strong>.<br \/>The experiences by four different communities of indigenous women has been presented.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"doclink\" href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;view=document&amp;alias=171-16-10-17-un-commission-status-women-en&amp;category_slug=right-to-development&amp;Itemid=132&amp;lang=en\">Download the document<\/a><\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>The first good practice to be presented by this document is the one from Santa Maria (Argentina) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.focolare.org\/en\/news\/2012\/03\/08\/margarita-e-le-donne-del-tinku-kamayo\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"external\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Tinku Kamayo&#8221;<\/a> (&#8220;Gathered for Work&#8221;), their project based on a cooperative by indigenous women.<br \/>It has been presented also the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amu-it.eu\/2016\/01\/15\/turismo-sostenibile-e-solidale\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"external\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sustainable and Inclusive Tourism Project <\/a>by the women of Catamarca (again, in Argentina).<br \/>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amu-it.eu\/2016\/07\/19\/kiribati-i-bimbi-crescono-e-anche-i-cavoli\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"external\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">experience from the women of Kiribati<\/a> and their engagement in order to face the climate change is another experience which has been presented.<br \/>Finally, the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.new-humanity.org\/en\/learning-fraternity-contents\/learning-fraternity-good-practices\/dominican-republic-cafe-con-leche-school-promotes-an-overall-development-of-childern\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Caf\u00e8 con Leche&#8221; programme<\/a>, aimed to take care of the poorest children of Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) has been included on the document as well.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are much more good practices on this topic They <strong>come from the six principle for peace emphasized by New Humanity of the Focolare Movement<\/strong>. They are: 1) Be the first to reach out to others; 2) Treat each person with respect; 3) Share each other\u2019s joys and sorrows; 4) Discover the good in others; 5) Treat others as you want to be
