New Humanity co-publishes special Pax Christi issue on interfaith dialogue

20.08.2025

As part of its ongoing commitment to interreligious dialogue and global cooperation, New Humanity NGO, with the Interfaith Working Group at UNESCO, co-published a special edition of Pax Christi France magazine. Entirely dedicated to the theme of interfaith dialogue, the issue features reflections and fieldwork from multiple faith traditions. New Humanity authored 7 of the 16 articles featured in the issue.

The magazine, published as a special edition of Pax Christi France, is the first collaborative editorial project of the group. It goes beyond promoting interreligious dialogue by exploring how diverse spiritual traditions, when in dialogue, can address some of today’s most pressing global challenges. The issue demonstrates how shared ethical values across religions can contribute to achieving UNESCO’s priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The magazine is organized into four chapters, aligned with UNESCO’s strategic priorities:

  • Shared Values
  • Interfaith Dialogue in Practice
  • The Contribution of Religions to the Planet
  • Religions in the Digital Age

The magazine was conceived as a strategic advocacy tool to raise awareness and build support for interfaith dialogue at UNESCO. Composed of nine NGOs from different religious traditions, the Interfaith Working Group advocates for the integration of interfaith dialogue into UNESCO’s programs as an essential tool for peacebuilding and global citizenship education.

To maximize its advocacy impact, the magazine was strategically distributed to three key audiences:

  • Delegations from UNESCO’s Executive Board, with special attention to French-speaking countries
  • UNESCO sectors, especially in the fields of education and the social sciences
  • Catholic bishops in France and Pax Christi’s broader network

The group has also partnered with other NGOs to expand its reach and visibility across civil society.

Though the distribution is still recent, initial responses have been encouraging. The magazine has helped build new connections with Member States, leading to the arrangement of diplomatic meetings. It has also proved useful in in-person encounters, adding credibility to the group’s proposals and sparking meaningful dialogue.
