UN NGO Committee on the Family Expands to Geneva

13.08.2025

On 14 July 2025, the Executive Committee of the UN NGO Committee on the Family in New York (NGOCF-NY) unanimously approved the creation of its Geneva Subcommittee. Operating under the umbrella of NGOCF-NY, the new UN NGO Committee on the Family – Geneva (NGOCF-GVA) will have its own leadership, Secretariat, and program of work. Giorgio Mazzoli and Stefano Bosco have been appointed as Co-Chairs.

The new subcommittee will strengthen the Committee’s mission to promote, protect, and support the family as the natural and fundamental group unit of society. Based in Geneva — a global hub for human rights — it will bring a family-focused perspective to international policy debates and UN mechanisms.

Work to define the Geneva Subcommittee’s bylaws and procedures will begin soon in close coordination with the New York Executive Committee. The official launch is expected during the upcoming Fall session of the Human Rights Council.

For over a year, New Humanity has been actively engaged in creating and promoting the Working Group on the Family among Catholic-inspired NGOs. We played a key role in its establishment and continue to contribute to its work. New Humanity is represented in this initiative by Juan Garcia Gutiérrez and Jorge Ferreira.
