Oral statement on peace and international solidarity at the HR Council.

25.06.2026

New Humanity NGO delivered an oral statement at the UN Human Rights Council’s 62nd session on peace and international solidarity.

The NGO commended Independent Expert Cecilia Baillet for her report on peace and international solidarity, agreeing that today’s world faces serious threats including armed conflict, inequality, polarization, and environmental crises.

International solidarity is essential to sustainable peace, and young people are critical, underutilized actors in achieving it. Rather than being mere beneficiaries of peacebuilding, youth are already driving grassroots initiatives in dialogue, intercultural understanding, and cross-border cooperation.

Member States and UN institutions are urged to create meaningful pathways for youth participation in peacebuilding and policymaking, ensuring young people have a direct voice in decisions that shape their future.
