Farewell party in honor of Virginia Dandan

New Humanity and the other Catholic Inspired NGOs in Geneva (CINGO) held a meeting to thank the Independent Expert on International Solidarity Virginia Dandan for the important work she did and her fruitful collaboration.

After the event on the previous day (read here), a second farewell was offered by the members of the Workgroup on International Solidarity of the CINGO Forum, by Dr. Shiami Puvimanasinghe – member of the Right to Development Division (RRDD) of the Human Rights Council (HRC) at the UN, and by other members of that Council.

Dr. Ferreira took the opportunity to express, on behalf of New Humanity, the NGO’s sincere gratitude for the important work she did and for the precious collaboration she fostered with New Humanity and the other NGOs that are part of the CINGO Forum.

Dr. Dandan, on her part, highlighted that: “The meaning of Human Rights is love”. To work for the respect of Human Rights in fact means to concretely love people who sometimes are physically far away or we don’t even have the chance to get to know in person, but who need to be loved in a special way, either because they are abused or sometimes deprived even of the most basic rights, to the point that their dignity and their value as human beings are seriously trampled if not destroyed all the way”

“Taking care of these people – Dr Dandan concluded – is practicing concrete love for the least.”
