Transformando mi ciudad con pequeñas acciones

La Plata, Argentina

This project aims to modify small daily behaviors and seeks to raise awareness in children, adolescents and young people so that they become protagonists and multipliers in the care of the “Common House”. The term “Integral Ecology” is a step forward to human ecology because it incorporates the environment, economy, society, culture and daily life, orienting them towards the common good and justice between generations.

The purpose of addressing the problems with respect to the health of the planet, which is in the hands of all, is to give the possibility of repairing the damage and thus look to the future with the hope of enjoying the Common Home. We believe it is necessary to redirect the course in terms of the excessive consumption of goods (responsibility), to be able to share what we have (redistribution), to recycle, reuse and reduce. That is to say, to raise awareness in the separation at source so that waste is no longer “garbage” and becomes a resource. Example: organic waste = Humus.

To become aware of a common origin, of a mutual belonging, of the knowledge that everything is in relation to everything else and of a shared future for all humanity. It is a cultural, spiritual and educational challenge that will entail a long process of regeneration. It is a call to “listen to both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor” (LS.49) in order to address ecological, economic and social imbalances. Ecological transformation will come from the bottom up. It is those small acts that generate great changes.
